I'm concerned about this also - not just the how will we work, but it's just so crappy for the kids. Hopefully we'll have more widespread and appropriate testing in a few months, so treatment/isolation can be more targeted and we can start to move on more with our lives...
I actually don’t think it’s that crappy for most of the kids. I actually posted this on FB yesterday. I don’t know who needs to hear this, but DS1 is online with his 5th grade class and teacher right now, learning how they’re going to use the online learning tool. As part of the introduction to the platform, they are each sharing a positive, negative or interesting thing about the past 3 weeks. The kids are all sharing things that are positive - baking with parents, going on walks with parents, going on bike rides with parents and siblings, playing outside with family, etc. The only negative thing shared was one kid who broke his arm since school has been out. If you know me IRL, hello, and I know I should use DCUM less :-/
That’s so nice! Yes DD is having a blast.
Please understand that’s the norm HERE because these kids are privileged. For kids whose parents don’t make a lot of money or are still working and kids might be going to work with them or sitting home with little food and watching siblings, it wouldn’t look like that. A lot of people are not finding this time fun and healing. I’m glad you are but don’t assume it’s the norm.
My kids are privileged, at least money wise, and they aren’t doing any of these things. I work 40-50 hours a week for my job so we are not doing any of those fun things during the week. Wish i could send them to camp like we usually do.
