MCPS has a lot of Chromebooks, and a lot of students who already have devices at home.  I haven't heard that there is a shortage - I checked, because I could have purchased additional devices for my kids, but our school said they had plenty.  It makes sense to borrow one that will otherwise sit unused at school for a few months rather than buy a new one.[/quote]

Can afford doesn’t help if you can’t just go buy one. People suddenly telecommuting wiped out a lot of the supply it seems. I’m a teacher and I could not buy a computer to come fast enough to start training on Monday. Everything is backed up. I was told my order could come as early as Friday so I canceled. My school is loaning to teachers on Monday.[/quote]
