I heard from friends the difficulty of getting kids home who were at schools on the west coast when campuses shut down. I would think some similar stress experienced in kids from west coast at schools on East Coast. There is always the threat of a flare-up or resurgence once the cases level off. I would be concerned about my child being so far away.
It was actually not hard to get them home. Plane tickets were super cheap. It was the sudden move-out that was somewhat challenging, but doable for most kids (mine was fine, though one of my other kids with issues would have probably botched it somehow). Kids have to learn to pack and store their belongings all by themselves eventually. I was kind of surprised that some parents flew out to help - the thought hadn't occurred to me. We did decide to pay for the slightly more expensive storage place that picks up the boxes, for the convenience factor, though other kids must have gotten rides or ubered to storage.
