Should our daycare give us a refund when they close for 2 weeks for the pandemic? Trying to figure out whether that's expected.
No, they should not.
I sure hope that they keep the money and pay their employees!
+1 These are the people that love, bond with and care for your kids. You still pay for your place in the daycare.
On the flip side, is my employer going to pay me if I take 2 weeks off and not take leaves? No. The daycare teacher is an employee. It is their job to be loving and to care for our kids because we PAY them. I am not sure why this board seems to put daycare teachers on a pedestal and they deserve "special treatment" when they are employees working for an organization JUST LIKE THE REST OF US. Of course, I think their jobs are important, probably more important than my admin job at a non-profit.
You’re sad, really! What do you expect the school to do not pay its employees and hope the teachers stay on for two and three weeks for your unappreciative self? Preschools still have to pay to keep the lights on and their employees to be a viable option for us families. This happens in the private school realm in elementary and above. You want the school and faculty to go under because you’re a frugal, unappreciative, unsupportive parent? Wrong answer. Think more clearly. A few hundred bucks now or your child’s preschool and teachers remain open for many years to come.
This is what I don’t get. I’m an employee and daycare teachers are too. Why is it ok for me to take unpaid leave to watch my kids but it’s not ok for daycare teachers? I don’t think you get that at all.
