I know.  I coached there last winter and had a few run-ins with a particular ref who looked to be in his late 60’s with hair on the side and none on top (Like a bird’s nest). Bald on top, late 60's, "bird's nest" look, sounds very familiar.

It's not just blacks being treated badly over there.  I'm Asian, and coached a majority Indian team over there last spring and had similar experiences.  I can recall playing against an all white team with a white coach one game.  This particular game could of went either way and a ref fitting this same description seemed to be doing everything he could to help the white team.  [b]Even called a technical on me, a quiet non confrontational coach in the 4th quarter when the game was on the line for not having possession while attempting to call timeout.[/b]

I would have thought that this was the correct call, but I looked it up, and this is completely wrong -- the rule is "play on". Coach’s call timeout all the time when they don’t have possession.  Frequently they can see they are about to lose possession and call timeout after they have already lost it.  And if this coach was on defense a warning probably would have been more appropriate.  Especially in a league where this call is rare.
