OP, we were at a family owned TKD studio for years...so I understand how this is different from many other sports. I'm not sure many of the PPs responding get that. You pay a huge amount to send your kid there to learn discipline, respect, etc. as well as martial arts. You can't actually re move your son from there without removing him from a support system he's familiar with and incurring a large financial penalty. I get it. Also, as a family owned business the adults really need to make sure any of their family members are being positive role models at this establishment. Honestly, I think I'd let the staff know immediately and tell them I want out of the contract without penalty because their family member is exposing your son to something that is not inline with the values you're paying them to teach your child. You need to trust your gut if this is happening or not. A TKD studio, or any other long-term contract sport is different from say a season of flag football. So, this is just what I would do. Obviously, you have to do what's right for you.
I completely agree w/ this poster. The TKD studios prioritize respect and discipline. I would have no issues saying you have concerns and asking how you can work together. I'm sure that his instructors would be displeased to learn he was vaping and jump on that very quickly
