It's a high-profile event and there are a lot of photos floating around.
And related, we should talk about DCPS policy here in this thread.  Anytime the weather is warm, there's a group selling drugs at the corner of 14th and V (southwest corner, between 14th and 15th).  I've been offered quite a few times walking past.

The police seem uninterested in the drug-selling.  My experience is that police in cities often won't do anything about it until it results in violence, and then they'll break it up and move people elsewhere.

Is that what we want?  There's a fine line here between the police harassing young black men by profiling them and the police working to stop drug dealing (and often-associated crew/gang activity.)

Let's first stipulate: we don't know the shooting and the drug activity is related, but even if they're not, we can focus on the drug activity near this corner.

I don't know what the answer is here but it's striking that the mayor apparently has little answer for this.

Let's try to keep conversation constructive: what actions should the city, police, mayor, and citizens take to address what's going on around this corner?
