My kid loves to watch ryan toy tv show on youtube, and he rather watches these over other micky mouse/paw patrol/super heroes cartoon or movies. He is 4. I think Ryan's exaggerated facial emotion & the ways they play all those toys get him. He only has screen time on weekend, and he picks that almost 90% of the time. Should I block them on youtube, and force him to pick other shows instead? If there are no cons for him watching these, then I will let him be then.
all kids are addicted to Ryan and his annoying family at that age. My 6-year-old still likes it, but she rotates him out from time to time. The thing I didn't like about him was 1- hearing his mother's voice was like nails on a chalkboard, and 2 - They were teaching my kid to ask for things at "Walmart or Walmart.com. You can also find it on Amazon".
Yes, the mother's voice is the worst! And my DD also started telling me where I could buy the toys. We had to talk to her about how the family gets paid to promote products. It doesn't mean all the products are great or that they are always being realistic. Example conversation: "No, DD, Ryan's dad didn't really need to learn how to brush his teeth. He knows how. He got paid to act like that by a toothpaste company named Colgate. They want you to buy their toothpaste." Never too early to start media literacy! DD started watching him years ago when he had just made millionaire status. I remember reading an interview with the mom who said they only filmed for a couple hours on the weekend and they would stop when he was no longer interested. Well, now with the entire family getting paid to be in the videos, the toy line, the ads, the endless sponsored content...I no longer believe her.
