There are considerably more 9-12 pupil placements to LBSS this year (238, according to information assembled by FCPS staff shortly before the current school year began) than any other high/secondary school in FCPS. Always assumed it was kids who didn’t want IB or wanted to stay at the same school as other kids from the AAP program at LBSS. LBSS is a huge school so historically has been able to accept pupil placements. It is still listed as open for pupil placements in 2020-21 (Woodson and many other schools are closed to transfers).
There are nearly 600 kids in the MS AAP program at LBSS and probably about half are not at LBSS as their base for HS. Not surprising that they might decide to stay in the school they have grown comfortable with. I think this is the primary reason for the pupil placements (and somewhat built into the enrollment projections).
