Ok MCPS parents (and kids!). Now is your opportunity to hear first hand what that boundary study may mean for you. Attend now to educate yourself and ask questions. Otherwise, don't complain about what comes after. For parents who think boundary changes may just mean moving over from Churchill to WJ or WJ to BCC, you have your head in the sand. Everything is on the table. Come tonight and ask questions! If you think you may qualify to stay in your school after the boundary changes, ask about that! They are tightening up the COSA eligibility https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/uploadedFiles/departments/policy/191112%20Policy%20JEE%20draft%20for%20public%20comment.pdf?fbclid=IwAR2OHjPu582Qpae6GLCH59enak8MPUi-NIUaNm2edYtUAOW7Y5FYcd3DBG8: Who will be affected at the high school level? Does it matter if you're a walker? How will public transportation play into it? What if you have an IEP? Ask your questions now and get involved,[b] otherwise forever hold your peace. Also, it's not a boundary study. (In MCPS, boundary studies are for the purpose of establishing school boundaries.) It's an analysis of school boundaries.
im confused.. so they're going to come up with boundary options and MCPS will choose one (I assume that MCPS isn't paying this firm 500k for nothing)... and theny they'll have to rearrange everything for Woodward, and then rearrange everything for Crown again? Doesn't make sense. Reading if fundamental. Here's what WXY is actually doing: The team will produce three (3) boundary plan options. The boundary plan options will include a synthesis of data analysis including analysis of existing cluster boundaries and enrollment projections to school capacity and the set of factors which inform the scenarios.
Ohhh good lordy. Just like the Upcounty study followed by options presentation, recommendations and approval. This is going to get u-g-l-y. Winners and losers. Good luck yall.
