It really doesn't take too long to put together the packet. Last year we got the CogAT scores before winter break so I knew he was in the pool (barely!) and didn't worry about the referral form itself. But I did fill out the parent questionnaire and pull together some work samples to add to the packet that the school would be submitting. I'd say if they're in the pool based on NNAT and you're feeling confident, don't worry about it. But if you think your kid is borderline, there's no harm in adding to the school packet. FWIW DS did get in to AAP. [/quote]
