It is not unusual for them to stay up all night/until 2 or 3am. My 10 year old went to one a couple weeks ago and was the first to fall asleep, well after midnight. For a party with a group of girls this is pretty common. I would not allow it if it’s just a regular friend sleep over, but for a birthday party it’s pretty expected and they keep each other up and if you don’t sit in the room and force them to be quiet they will stay up very very late. My younger DD I had a sleepover party for her 7th birthday and I sat in the room and made them go to sleep at 11. I was not going to be able to fall asleep with 7 year olds awake in my house. But 10/5th grade I think is different. At my DD’s 10th they did sleep, but I don’t remember how much. I let them stay in the basement and I went to bed. I don’t know what I’d do with 9 year olds but 7-8 they sleep upstairs near us and they go to sleep no later than 11. The parents who let their kids come to my daughter’s 7th birthday sleepover were happy/impressed they went to bed at 11!
