My gen ed kid got 4s in the two subjects in which tests were held (Math and Social Studies) and 3s for LA and Science (no tests were held). I guess for LA they must have graded based on the classwork? But no tests for reading? And Science hardly nothing was done during this qtr and there was no test also. The 3s without any tests were confusing for my kid.
My son had a science test and math tests. I have no problem with 3’s, they mean he gets and can apply the concepts most of the time. I tend to see 3’s on the first quarter reprt card as the teacher leaving room for growth. But he got 4’s in the areas were tests came home. We focus more on the effort scores. As long as those are good, we are happy with his report card. We take the 2 in writing to mean that his writing remains problematic. We have been working on it since K and while it has improved, we know itis not very good. But he is making good effort and we can’t ask for more then that. Hopefully his teacher will have suggestions on how to help him.
