[/quote] I think the youth substitution rules can be viewed as a "problem" or not depending on what your end goals are. College rules are extremely substitution-happy, so if your end goal is to play in college, then there is no problem. If your goal is to play professionally in Europe (or South America, etc.), then the substitution rules in the US are a "problem" because it can encourage a unsustainable helter-skelter style of play. But if you're good enough there are leagues with rules akin to match the International rules above age 16/17.[/quote]
