I know this sounds crazy, but patagonia snowbelle. Not overly puffy, boxy cut, fairly thin padding for a snow/winter jacket. If you buy it new, it's $199 but you can get them on ebay for a lot cheaper. She'll also be able to use it for YEARS. My DD had the same jacket for 3 years. We've just bought the second one, a bit big, which should last her into and possibly through middle school. https://www.patagonia.com/product/girls-snowbelle-ski-snowboard-jacket/68485-RAPI.html?dwvar_68485-RAPI_color=RAPI&cgid=kids-girls#tile-25=&start=1&sz=48
Why/how does it last for years?
For one thing, the boxier cut allows for more growth. They have the grow-fit feature so the sleeves are able to be lengthened. And they are really well made. We put ours in the wash probably every other week and it's held up fine. If any damage does happen to it, Patagonia fixes it and ships it back to you for free. We did do one puffer jacket that got a hole in it and we had it fixed and back to us in 2 weeks.
