When you buy your infant car seat, the car seat comes with 2 pieces: a base and the bucket seat/carrier. The base stays installed in your car and the bucket seat/carrier can be easily clicked out of the base so you can carry the carrier portion of the car seat inside. This is a nice feature for when baby is sleeping in the car seat, you just easily transfer the whole seat from car to house and for when you’re running errands (the baby can stay strapped into their car seat while in the grocery cart—the big portion of the grocery cart though—please don’t balance your baby’s car seat in the baby seat part of the grocery cart). Depending on what type of stroller you got, there may or may not be an attachment you can buy to attach an infant car seat to the stroller. The stroller probably doesn’t already have the correct pieces to attach a car seat so you’ll probably have to buy those separately. What brand and model of stroller did you get? If possible, you could buy a car seat from same brand and then buy the parts to attach car seat to stroller. I think it’s really useful to have the ability to attach car seat to stroller—esp for going to the Dr’s office or running errands. This is a great way to transport baby when the baby is too little to sit up in the stroller. I think my kids both started sitting up well enough to go in the stroller without the car seat attached when they were about 6 months old. Before that, if I tried to put them in the stroller on their own without the car seat attached, they’d just kind of slouch over and get upset and uncomfortable quickly. If there isn’t a car seat compatible w your stroller, you can still get a car seat and then a car seat “caddy” to go with it. The car seat caddy is basically just a frame on wheels that you can connect an infant car seat to but the caddy does not convert to a stroller.
