I realized today that I haven't had a weekend alone in the house for years. I've gone on business trips, so I've definitely had time apart from the kids (2 & 5). But that travel isn't relaxing, and I never come back feeling rested. It got me thinking that it would be nice to do the following: 1 trip alone with the husband a year 1 overnight with each of my kids separately to get good 1:1 time 1 overnight where my husband takes the kids somewhere and I get a weekend at home alone 1 overnight where I take the kids somewhere and he gets a weekend at home alone I want to formalize it otherwise we won't plan for it and it won't happen. Anyone do something similar to this?
That sounds like a great plan! For us personally with little kids, travel is SO much easier when we're tackling it together that I don't think we'd do the one-parent overnights until the kids are older, but you're inspiring me to think about planning full-day adventures with the kids 1 on 1 and one parent/two kids.
