At Pyle parents come only for a period or two in the middle of the day and very few come by 6th grade (3-4 per class). In 7th and 8th grade we might get one intense parent per class.
What do you mean, "By 6th grade"? Isn't 6th grade the first year of middle school? Everyone I know is going to open house for their 6th grader.
You and everyone you know can enjoy your time sitting in an overcrowded room filled with preteen hormones. Last place I want to spend my day off.
Seriously. How mortifying for your kids, too.
My kids have all appreciated it. They enjoyed showing me their lockers, cafeteria, classrooms. It shows the teachers they have family support, too. I stopped going when my oldest said he preferred I not go -- in high school. You should go to support your kids. Mine appreciated it. Maybe it sucks for the teachers but not the kids.
+1 My 6th grader liked having a parent there. Liked showing me around. Agree that it shows teachers that the parents are involved. The two PPs are rude. We are actually in a really diverse school, and it's interesting, because all the 'white' parents are worried about embarrassing their kids. But, the families from other cultures (African, Latinx) don't even give it a thought. The parents come, sometimes with younger siblings. It's not actually normal for your teenager to be mortified by you. IF your tween is mortified by your presence, you are likely doing something wrong.
