there are of course exceptions (disobedience, carol, the duke of burgundy to name a few), but by and large gay-themed cinema seems to be of a much higher caliber than lesbian-themed cinema. is this happenstance or are there deeper reasons for it? let’s discuss. signed, lesbian cinephile who loves gay films
What the heck are gay films? Brokeback Mountain?
wow. wrong forum.
Seems like a legit question to me.
Movies where lgbt characters and their/our lives are central to the plot. While the world and dc specifically is a very comfortable place to live as lgbt people. When we read newspapers, magazine tv and movies we often missing. Nearly all advertising is straight people centric. Straight people make up the lions share of the population so this is to be expected. But as a gay many it is nice to see an ad that is actually targeted at me. With rare exception I only find those in lgbt magazines. Movies and tv have the same problem. Sometimes I just want to watch tv shows or movies where lgbt people are central and straight people have a cameo or are some side story.
