FIFA Women's Player Award goes to Rapinoe, to which US Soccer says, "Every time she gets on stage, she tries to make the world a better place. The best player. The best human." The best human? Really? The captain of a national team who won't honor her national anthem? One Nation, One Team* (except Rapinoe, because she's different). Please, US Soccer must have hired Baghdad Bob for their propaganda. Aside from disliking her politics, I didn't think her play was that great. Congrats to Ertz, Lavelle, Morgan, and O'Hara for making the Best XI.
Do not really care about that... just wish they would pick the best soccer player for the award. Rapinoe in her prime was never the best of the best. She was right below that...a good player. She was very lucky to be on this past World Cup’s team and marketed herself well. The pink hair made her easy to identify which was great for the people unfamiliar with women’s soccer who tuned in for the World Cup. Her selection is about marketing and political statements vs soccer ability. Women World Cup is an America event like the Super Bowl or the Olympics and Rapinoe is face of it but not one of the best players. As one who follows soccer and women’s soccer, I think is is a shame that the best players are pushed to the back but women’s soccer needs the marketing cross.
