They are illegal in Fairfax Virginia, and probably the rest of the state. The was how DSS explained it to me when I called to ask: If you hire a nanny to come to [i]your[/i] house to care for [i]your[/i] child, it's fine. If they bring their (the nanny's) children? It's fine. But the moment there's someone elses kids? You're now a home daycare and need to be licensed. Unless there's no money being exchanged. Then the rules are more lax...[/quote]
