It sounds like the mom wanted to hurt OP without being accused of being mean, so she brought up ancient history and tweaked the story. When OP gets upset, she can’t be mad at mom, because mom didn’t shoot the cat. The neighbors did. Even though anyone in their right mind can see that telling OP the neighbors shot her cat because she was a terrible child isn’t a good idea.

Thank you. This is what I was getting at. Yes, randomly within the past two years she brings things up and drops them on me out of nowhere. We weren't even talking about cats when she did thisn one. [/quote]
