Has anyone heard from their bilingual schools regarding increased security for the new school year? Am I being paranoid, or should we be concerned that these schools may be a target after the El Paso shooting?
I don't think bilingual schools are at any more risk than other schools. A racist gunman looking to shoot minority children would have plenty of schools in DC--bilingual or not--to target. And the risk of a parent or staffer with a grudge showing up at school, or a gunfight happening in the neighborhood while kids are coming or going, are no higher just because a school is bilingual. Everyone should work with school staff and MPD to make sure kids are safe at school and on their commutes. Some schools probably have more to worry about than others but every school should have a plan.
