As a Takoma parent (elementary school, not PK), I can say we’ve been very happy with our experience. TEC preaches a “meet every kid where they are” academic style and for the most part, we have found that to be true for our child. It’s a small school (2 classes, sometimes 3 per grade), so I feel like all the teachers know and care for our child. I have always felt my child is safe and loved while at school.

The culture is very welcoming and diverse. TEC has about 1/3 English language learners and a a fair number of new to the country immigrants.

Sending our kid to our neighborhood elementary school has been a very positive experience. The one concern is the feeder pattern, but I remain hopeful that the new MS and revamped Coolidge will become schools of choice for the neighborhood as well.
