I believe the other teacher she cited was using a laptop, and may have been using the laptop to take notes in the meeting. Stapling is louder/more disruptive than typing on a laptop, and very obviously had no relationship to the purpose of the meeting (whereas the laptop might have).
Agree. Shuffling papers and stapling is noisy and distracting. and rude. Don't our students take notes on computers? FWIW, the teacher reminds me of something that we complained about in my school many years ago. Over the summer, somehow things would get thrown away---here's a little secret: it wasn't the principal that did it. It was the cleaning crew. Even things that we thought were obviously "put away." I suspect there is a lot more to that story. And, i recall a faculty meeting where a teacher of color got up and ranted about something the principal had done and cried racism. He had totally treated her like anyone else, she created a "dragon" that did not exist. People were embarrassed for her. I know nothing about the situation here. The lady might be totally true in her accusation. My take: she was mad about getting called out for stapling papers. She felt humiliated. I was at a meeting the other night where someone was speaking from a podium. A woman behind me was shuffling papers (not stapling, though.) Even the shuffling was quite distracting and annoying.
