Churchill seems to have tons of issues if we go by posts here, but Wootton boundary is likely to see a bigger change. Wootton may look a totally different school after boundary decisions are done or it may have only a slight change. No one knows right now.
Why do you think Wootton will have a bigger change? The analysis hasn't even begun.
More opportunity to adjust Wootton than Churchill when it comes to diversity.
I would agree that Churchill boundary is less likely to change much just because of location. If they adjusted the lines, the result would be for some neighborhoods to go to Wootton or WJ, which are both good schools. Other schools are much further away. Wootton is talked about a lot in terms of boundary changes, and to schools that people deem as less desirably (i.e., non W schools). There is a lot of talk here about various messes at Churchill, but I think some of that is that Churchill parents just post more. Vaping is a nationwide problem but we hear most about it from Churchill parents. Having said all of that, I am a nerdy Churchill parent and if I knew 10 years ago what I know now, I would probably pick Wootton district because I'd prefer the nerdy vibe to the ultra rich vibe at Churchill. It's true that there are plenty of normal UMC kids at Churchill, but there are also a LOT of kids who get fancy cars even when they are just getting their permit (don't even have licenses yet).
I was under impression that ultra rich families mostly go private in Churchill cluster. I guess I was wrong. Since you have been in the cluster fora long time, do you recommend any ES more than others in Churchill to avoid problems you are citing ? Or it doesn't make any difference. I would think kids may hang out together more if they are from the same ES and choosing one over another may make some difference.
For ES, I would personally avoid those that go to Cabin John Middle School. I'm sure it's a great school, but it splits, with have the students going to Churchill and the others going to Wootton, which makes it tough, socially. In terms of schools that go to Hoover, Potomac ES is the school that has the highest income level but I know kids with expensive cars from most of the various ES school neighborhoods. You'd need to drive around the neighborhoods to get a feel for them-- they are quite different in terms of home size, hard size, walkability, etc.
