I thought it was bad when my kid was sick and I was sick. Nope—it’s worse when they are healthy and you want to die. It’s a whole other circle of hell when both DH and I are sick and DS is healthy and wants to play. From 6mo to 2yo was the absolute worst with a different illness every 4-6 weeks. Now my kid is Typhoid Mary; he doesn’t get sick but I catch every bug going around his day care.
We are dealing with that now. Either DD doesn't get sick at all, or she gets a very mild case of the bug du jour, and DH and I are both slammed by it. Last summer, she caught a VERY mild case of HFM and passed it along to us. Short of a bad case of the flu in college, that's the sickest I've ever felt in my life. DH was out of work for a full week. And, no, we aren't wimps. The worst was when she brought home norovirus. One episode of vomiting for her; 3 days of complete misery for us. Fortunately, that was over a long weekend!
