I don't think Belle Haven is radically worse than most of SE DC. I know people renting 2BR, 900sqft houses in nice parts of Menlo Park and Palo Alto for about $4k. It is tight for a family, but doable, depending on how many kids they have. If more space is needed, consider Fremont or other areas just across the Dumbarton Bridge, Mountain View or other areas south of MP on the 101, or the part of Redwood City by Bay Road. [/quote]
