I grew up in a home with physical abuse and will never understand the "I want my children to have two parents".  They will, and they will be way better off to have them separately.  "I don't have any money or will be in trouble financially."  So get a job, put aside your own money, or borrow from somewhere... but getting yourself into a little debt to save your life, your children's, or your happiness is worth way more then staying in a crappy situation.  Makes me sad how much self worth people are lacking and how we think we are doing better by our kids when they are not oblivious to what's going on.
