What was the total budget for these services - that doesn’t seem like that much for a national program. Doesn’t matter what cut they make to the budget, someone will be unhappy, but at some point we have to balance the budget so spending has to be cut back. I don’t like the administration either but I am glad to see cutbacks.
Great, then are you volunteering to take care of my autistic child when I'm dead? Thanks!
There are very few services and supports outside the school system for SN kids. Most of us get help through insurance or basically spend everything we have (or both) for help for our kids. To say you are glad they are cutting back means you have no empathy or kids who need help in your family. One day one of our kids could be your grandkid, niece or nephew and you may feel differently then. There are so many ways to cut back all the fluff spending vs. take away from kids who need it. You can cut Trumps weekly FL trips out and really do some good with that money.
We are definitely fortunate to have good insurance, I admit that. Anyways I’m not trying to cause trouble. Like other government funded programs I know why people find value in them but feel strongly that too much spending will be much more detrimental to the entire country.
We have good insurance but we also spent a fortune out of pocket. There are lots of things we can cut before social services and entitlement programs. Cutting SN services for ASD is one of the most horrific things you can do as these are not folks who can care for themselves and its not their fault. Early intervention works for some kids, like mine who then can grow up and be productive citizens. The more you spend up front, the less you may spend on the back end. (not always as some need life long care)
