I agree OP. The amount of cars I see driving in the rain without headlights on amazes me, especially the newer ones.

Why don't they just leave their lights on permanently?  Even my 2004 car has the option for permanent headlights that automatically turn off when I turn off my engine.[/quote]

Even more reason to just leave it on permanently.

Most suburban residential areas aren't that well lit. I live in one. It gets quite dark.
