OP, Jones Lane is a great school! Both of my kids went there, and though some aren't crazy about the principal and some of the rankings aren't amazing(GS is a 6 I think) we loved the school! The Great Schools ranking is low because the low-income students don't do very well on the standardized tests but that is more of a reflection of the students in one neighborhood not the majority of the school. The neighborhoods are great and the majority of kids live off Jones Lane or QO road. The area is ideal IMO. Most are happy with the school. Both DCs had a great experience and thrived while they attended. Neither of my kids are at the elementary school now but let me know if you have any specific questions about the area/neighborhoods or middle/high school! Good luck!
OP here, in terms of the feeder middle school, ridgeview. Do your kids attend that school? If so, how is it in terms of enrichment and were your children bored there or adequately challenged. Thanks!
Ridgeview is a fine school, but varies student to student. My son was on the advanced math track and started Spanish 1A/B in 6th grade. He enjoyed attending Ridgeview, although was not adequately challenged in most classes. Although, I will say that there were many electives as the students got older, which was something that my son enjoyed. On the other hand, my daughter also attended Ridgeview, was not on the advanced math track and was appropriately challenged throughout her three years there. The teachers there can be mixed, but both my children liked the vast majority of their teachers and had some absolutely phenomenal ones that they loved. All in all, Ridgeview is a fine school and so is Jones Lane. You should have no worries moving to the area.
