Wow. I'm surprised to see UMass Amherst and the UNC universities on that list. I expected it to be a bunch of Franklin Pierce/Iona types, not big state flagships.
In UNC's case, the big state flagship school (Chapel Hill) is fine. It's got a AAA rating, according to the article. Presumably it's a bunch of the other schools in the 17-school system bringing down the average (probably not NC State, but likely the smaller ones). I was initially surprised about Georgetown, but I recall reading (though probably on this board, so take it with a grain of salt) that it had a very small endowment for a Catholic university of its alleged prestige. I don't have a dog in that fight; I always just liked how pretty the school was as I drove along GW Parkway....
It is pretty until you see it close up. Dorms are awful, buildings are old and not up to date. It just looks stale. Maybe they want that old school catholic look, but even the insides are drab. And yes, their endowment pales to other ivies and even looks bad to big catholic schools like Notre Dame, Villanova, etc...
Case in point https://instagram.com/georgetown.hotmess?utm_source=ig_profile_share&igshid=17i7zaev7o390
OMG!!! Disgusting.
So gross! I had no idea Georgetown was so ...ratchet.
