FYI, we primarily speak English at home (my husband speaks a non-Spanish second language). I'm not fluent in Spanish but can read it and can help him a bit. We've supported Spanish language acquisition by having him go to the MV summer camp for four weeks last summer for extra Spanish exposure. He has a few Spanish books at home (kids can pick paper books in Spanish each week that are tied to their reading level, to bring home starting in Kindergarten and MV also has a book fair), and very rarely he watches cartoons in Spanish.

Parent community - a good cohort of Spanish-speaking families (sometimes both parents, sometimes just one) which is helpful for language acquisition in the classroom, the PTA is very engaged and working on improving the outdoor space, and we've met some nice people there. There is definitely a push among PTA/parents to help the school continue to improve which is good - folks are committed. There is anxiety and worry about the expansion. We are choosing to ride it out and keep holding the school accountable for good edu at both locations.[/quote]
