In addition, of the 20 odd players on my son's team, I think maybe 2 or 3 live in DC or Chevy Chase. My son's schoolmates in DC do not play there, and arranging playdates with other boys from the team is another effort and a half.

I would strongly urge you to find a team that is a) close and b) where you might have some schoolmates or other friends on the team. Achilles FC is a good and growing program (many folks from Bethesda switch there for logistics reasons) and I recently heard about DC Youth Football but don't know much about them (train at schools in NW DC). Arlington has a number of practices at National Airport and in North Arlington which are convenient as well. [/quote]
