My DS did modeling for a clothing line for a few years but not in the DC area. It's hard work, no doubt about it. Since we move to the DC area, I haven't looked into it here. He has sports and other activities that he enjoys doing and there is no way he could do sports and modeling at the same time. He never took weekday jobs and that limited him. I knew some kids who would miss one day a week of school for gigs. INSANE. He did make decent enough money and has a nice little bank account now. I limited it to jobs that were within a certain distance from our house and most gigs lasted 3-4 hours. He played with the other kids and on his tablet when waiting for his turn. There were things I liked about it. He had to focus and not whine if he was uncomfortable, which he was because he did winter clothes in the summer and summer clothes in the winter and warehouses aren't the most climate controlled. There was a whole crew there and he had to do his job so they could do theirs. He had to maintain his composure. All and all, good life skills. That said, he's a boy. He fit into the sample sizes with no worries and I never thought twice about his weight or looks. It is different with girls. I don't know if I would have done it if he was a girl.
