Don't forget that it's usually the assistant teachers who deal with the "dirty work"...potty accidents, cleaning up messes in the room, taking care of boo-boos, and comforting crying kids while the lead teacher ensures that class carries on. As an assistant teacher, I always appreciated when parents would give me a gift card or gift that was equal to what the lead teacher received -- and I knew what she received because we opened our gifts together.
This. I was the assistant last year that worked with a very inexperienced, and uneducated lead teacher. I did the hard work and was the one wiping your child’s bottom. I’ve also worked for wonderful leads that really do a lot. But the assistants are always the one that has to deal with all the gross things.
Yup and quite often assistants help plan all the projects and prep them without any of the credit
My situation is different. My child's preschool teacher is experienced & sharp, and she plans for activities. The new assistant teacher's English is not good, and every parents that I have talked to have problems in communication with her. She is a new hire replacement of the old assistant teacher going for another job a month ago. Everytime I ask her how's my child doing, she just says it is all good with not much details. And she does not understand my questions most of the time. In my case, I am not willing to give the new assistant teacher that starts one month ago the same amount as the lead teacher. What do u all think?
