The democrats in MD need to think hard about this. If they had not chosen someone as bad a Jealous they would not be losing out. A solid moderate Democrat with experience would have won easily. Putting up a fool with zero experience and only a desire to show boat on the national stage was a big mistake.
Agreed. It was a blue wave year in a blue state, and Jealous, with his lack of experience, was not the best candidate the Democratic party could put forward.
I think the democratic party is fighting with the fact the having leftist attitudes is causing them problems; I dont mean liberal. It was very intering to watch how the left doubled down on their hatred of the moderates and, especially, the far right, when Trump won the election. The general attitude by the democratic party in Maryland has been “We can do whatever we want, and we dont care what the citizens say.” Time and time again we’ve seen that in Maryland, and Hogan’s election / re-election is really about the people saying the want a moderate. The thing that concerns me greatly is the lack of thinking voters in Maryland. For example: I went to vote and I was the second person in line. The guy next to me had just moved to MD from DC; it was his first time voting in MD. We got to speaking and he didnt know ANY of the candiates. His plan was just to vote democrat down the line... thats it. Thats the kind of crap the emboldens gerrymandering.
