Disgusting. And no one noticed. We have a huge backslapping buddy government receiving high salaries and benefits from our taxes and then they’re misappropriating funds on top of that. Great!
That’s what gets me. No one noticed. Who else is embezzling from MoCo? Are there better controls in place now?
No I’m sure they’re not going to be watching more. Look at what the school board was doing - living high on the hog with no qualms: https://wjla.com/news/education/mcps-reimburses-boe-members-for-pricey-meals-taxi-fares-and-more-104758 MoCo just shells out the money to every special interest group that begs them (they host them regularly!), they spend millions on a crappy curriculum after being wined and dined, they grow the govt bigger and bigger to ‘study how to improve things’ - they just spend spend spend. Honestly they need an independent auditor and advocate for the people. That would be money well spent - an audit to tell them what to cut out. Which would be a lot. When was the last time they cut the administrative fat out of the schools?
The school administrators also don’t need to be taking trips , eating out and going to ‘seminars’ and ‘meetings’ like they’ve been doing. Instead of talking about cutting programs for the kids and teachers and raising taxes it’s time to start cutting admin costs. Stop having parties with our tax money instead of serving the people. Our county council members are on all kinds of boards for county facilities too, being wined and dined and influenced. Someone should do more reporting on this behind the scenes culture and how it influences spending and policy.
