What’s the point of bond then?[/quote] The point of bond is to create an incentive for people to show back up to court and not flee before their next appearance. It's a way to encourage compliance with the justice system while not making people who are presumed innocent stay incarcerated (thus losing jobs and child custody and other important things) while awaiting trial.
