This is OP and I must say I am shocked by just how mean some of you are. I am not a trashy or tacky person by any means. I am a well educated professional who is very excited to welcome her first child and also the daughter of a police officer who takes all reasonable security and safety precautions that are warranted. I do not feel it will be a huge risk to announce to my neighbors at the end of my culdesac that the baby, which they are fully aware of, has arrived. I know I am not the only person who is interested in having a welcome baby lawn sign and I was simply trying to help other avoid unnecessary expense when I'm sure we are all trying to manage the cost of having a baby as best as we can. Honestly I almost never post anything on this site and have never totally understood why there is a stigma around DC that this site is full of women who are extremely judgemental and think themselves superior on all topics but actually being the one at the receiving end of the attacks I must say I'm starting to get it. I truly hope you will not be teaching your children to be so rude hiding behind a computer screen so they grow up to bully mine and other innocent kids. Seriously, if this was not something that interested you, why reply. To the poster who mentioned that putting the name and date stats out there might not be a good idea, at least this had some basis and thought that I agree was helpful. I don't think its all that difficult to acquire someone's name and birth date information publicly but I understand your concern. As for the rest of you good luck with your babies. I hope you are truly as joyful at their birth as we are going to be.
