After a 3 year battle with infertility the first time around, I finally had a baby just over a year ago. My issue was getting any/good enough embryos - I did 6 retrievals and eventually ended up with 3 quality embryos (which cane from the last two retrievals). One is my DS and the other 2 are still frozen. While it took forever to get anything to implant, I was very lucky that my first transfer was successful and I got pregnant “easily” in that respect. I am gearing up to start the transfer process for #2. I saw my RE and he is feeling positive overall but said as a disclaimer that sometimes what works the first time around doesn’t always work out the same the next time. I just turned 40 (was 39 when DS was born) and I am really anxious about whether or not either embryo will take. We really really want another child and I feel like if we have to go back to retrievals it will take years again, which we don’t have this time. So I guess my question is, what have others’ experiences been with transfers for additional children once you already had the embryos banked? Did it take the same amount of transfers as for the first or more/less? I am thinking positively but also want to be realistic that this isn’t a sure thing just because it worked the first time.
