Ive been trying to figure out if I can truly consider them friends, keep my distance anyway which is why I’m paying attention to such a minor (or not) thing.[/quote]

That only comes into play if you explicitly ask them to watch your stuff. Otherwise they might not even realize or remember is there.

I always jokingly say 'Hey, make sure no one steals my $1,000 phone while I'm at the buffet'.

Then they know to keep an eye out. [/quote]
