Is this even a question?  Yes, it's easier in other parts of the country.

Having lived as a young adult in major northeastern and western cities, I never had any trouble scrounging up a girl friend.  Then I moved to DC.

Game changer.  I couldn't even get a date, let a lone a "partner."  Did I become a geek the moment I stepped over the DC line?  I don't think so.

Here is the problem with the DC-area.  People here can be very guarded socially and sometimes downright cold.  What we have here are women who will not give themselves permission.  Many of them have entire litanies of reasons why they shouldn't date this one or that one.  I hear it from women friends all of the time and just roll my eyes.

My advice to the ladies would be to give men a chance, that's all.  FWIW, the unmarried, under 30 U.S. Senator you're waiting for is a Unicorn, he doesn't exist, so take that phone call from the B level lawyer or the program analyst and go out on a date.  You might just, you know, have fun![/quote]
