Its kind of a branch off from Pride but not really as Elle Golub isnt involved. Katie McMahon, the Pride Director and Visi coach seems to be the founder. It looks like its set up to have a similar relationship that Stars and Capital have - basically sister clubs.
Which means for the 2022 team probably not worth trying out for if not already playing for Pride Red.
That is just not true. First of all, the top Pride girls will still try to move over to Capital for high school. Panthera has lots of potential but for serious players, girls who want to play in D1 in college, playing for a known and established top club like Capital is key. The current Pride red (A) team isn't the strongest club team (they lost every game this past weekend at Summer Genesis) but they do have 3-5 very good players. Its also a smaller team than in years past with only 18 players on the roster. Sometimes top players in our area will also try to move to Skywalkers or M&D for highschool depending where they are going and where they live. Also, some will probably try out for MC Elite and VA Metro and Crash. Everything shifts for high school in the girls club world and there is a clear hierarchy. Its very competitive and the introduction of Panthera is nothing but positive for the girls. Katie McMahon is following Kathy Jenkin's model and building her own lacrosse fiefdom with Visi and now Panthera. She has attracted a big name as the recruiting head at Panthera, a woman with lots of experience and connections. Katie wants to bring in new blood and get another competitive hs club team going in the area. I for one am very interested to see how this all pans out but think it will be great for the girls.
Agree 100%. Not everyone wants to play for Capital.
