#1) We, as a community, need to vote in representatives that will fight for gun control. I would love to see all guns banned but I understand that we can't put the genie back in this particular bottle. #2) Someone in the community knows who these low life criminals are. I wish someone would grow a sac and report them. #3) In this day and age of cell phone cameras and security cameras, I can't believe no one got footage of the getaway car. #4) Prayers and thoughts go out to this girl's family. So sad and senseless.
I agree with most of what you said except the bolded. I have a 6yo child. If I lived across the street from the perpetrators, I would have to think carefully about reporting them. I wouldn't want them to find out that I was the one who reported them. Also, many of these folks probably don't have the means to pick up and move, so I'd worry about my life and that of my child being in danger if they decide to retaliate.
NP. Not a good excuse/explanation. You can drop an anonymous dime in many ways.
+1 Why isn't this obvious to everyone?
Because you can testify anonymously at trials in the US? No you cannot testify anonymously. My 2nd biggest fear when there was a rash of shootings in my neighborhood, after harm to my child or myself, was that I my child or I would witness a serious crime. And I don't know the dynamics of this shooting, but the people doing the shooting here are not my neighbors, it's people who live in other parts of the city who come to settle things (surviving victims and the police agree on this point). The shooters are not people I have any personal connection to or interest in protecting (if I did see something), but the dangers of coming forward as a witness are real.
