Since the DACA kids will likely become US citizens, I'm not sure why you don't count it as a good thing for them to receive aid and attend college?
How? What path has been made available to them to become US citizens? Obama let them stay, and left them hanging. Congress did nothing. Trump is completely chaotic. Congress still does nothing. Until they have a path to citizenship, it's cruel. It may be a waste of a spot if the university doesn't wish to educate someone who has a high chance of ending up living in another country.
Like the Chinese students, Indian students, etc who waste a spot in a university and go home? Pomona has only 1600 students, but 63 countries represented. Pretty sure lots of American kids want those spots. The difference is, the DACA kids at least want to stay in this country and put their education to use here.
Think it this way - international students are mostly full pay students, they help keep your tuition low and inject cash to your local economy. When they go back to their countries, they promote american life style (meaning democrary). Win-win.
