We don't mind driving a bit in order to explore the Boston/Concord/Lexington area. Boston hotels are frightfully expensive, so we are fine driving into the city and parking the few days we will explore that location. Is there a place central to many of the sites that we could stay? I have a hotel booked right now in Concord, which is MUCH cheaper than a Boston hotel, but if there is a similarly well located spot that I could check out, I'm happy to do it. Thanks.
There are a couple of hotels near the Alewife station on the western edge of Cambridge. The advantage there is it becomes more suburban, so easier parking and driving around, which you will likely do to visit the Concord/Lexington sites. But you can hop on the red line at Alewife and be in downtown Boston in less than 20 minutes. You really don't want to drive and park into Boston if you can avoid it- it's time consuming, frustrating, and expensive.
