I didn't know anything about Valerie Jarrett before this scandal and hearing her described as an African American woman just made me assume that the planet of the apes comment was made from the same ugly comparison that racists have made for centuries, but when I actually saw her picture it made me think that what inspired Roseanne to make that horrible comparison was her appearance and not her race.
