The rationale was indicated in the President's tweet:  "He was treated very unfairly by our government!". I have no idea what the history of D'Souza's case is, nor do I care. If he was being released from prison I'd be a bit more interested. Not sure this qualifies as an abuse of power, but I wouldn't argue with you if you thought this was purely motivated by their shared loathe for Obama. But still, I don't care much.[/quote]

Anyway, Dinesh D'Souza was convicted for campaign finance violation by funneling money to a republican candidate through third parties. He pleaded guilty. He is not poor nor uneducated - he knew what he did and pleaded. He is also a well know conspiracy peddler against Obama. So, his pardon signals to all the law breakers that Trump has no shame to pardon guilty-as-f*ck Obama haters as long as they are on his side.[/quote]
